Metriaclima Lombardoi (Kenyi) regular

Scientific Name: Metriaclima lombardoi commonly known as Kenyi. This is a highly aggressive dimorphic maternal mouthbrooder from the rocky shoals of Mbenji Island and Nkhomo Reef in Lake Malawi. The juveniles are a beautiful blue with black vertical bars. The males lose the blue for a vivid yellow coloration as they mature. This fish needs lots of cover and overcrowding the tank to spread the aggression is also recommended. The Kenyi is found in the Standard mix featured on the specials section of this web site. This mbuna does well with the Red Zebra Stampede or Ultracolor Fish Food and augmented with Hippocampus Green to provide the spirulina and plant material so vital for mbuna health. They appreciate the addition of a quality aquarium or Cichlid Salt at the rate of 1 teaspoon per gallon of water.
