French Angel Pomacanthus paru Common Name: French Angel Description: The French Angel is a very beautiful creature. The French Angel changes in color as it transitions from a juvenile to an adult. As a juvenile, the French Angel is dark brown, nearly black in color with thick, curved yellow bands across its head and body. As the French Angel becomes an adult, the yellow bands fade except for the one yellow bar at the outer base of the pectoral fin. The scales of this fish then turn black with yellow rims and the face becomes light blue with a white mouth and chin. Recommended Tank Size: In order to properly keep a French Angel, it may be a good idea to purchase a 100 gallon or larger tank. The tank should be equipped with plenty of live rock for grazing and for hiding. The temperature of the water should be kept between 72 and 78 degrees Fahrenheit with a pH value at 8.3 or 8.4. Food & Diet: The French Angel is an omnivore and can be fed green, pellets, and flakes. It is important to note that there should be some variety in their diet where foods like mussels, clams, sponges, mysis shrimp, spirulina, and algae are regularly on the menu. Level of Care: Moderate Reef Compatibility: Not reef compatible, nibbles at the reef in their tank.
