BUTTERFLY FALSE FALCULA Chaetodon ulietensis Common Name: Double Saddled Butterfly Description: The Double Saddled Butterfly Fish has a body that is mostly silver with black marks on it. This is where the fish's name is derived from, the dorsal area of the fish is dominated by two dark saddle patches. A dark vertical line runs through the eye, this separates the face from the body. The area behind the second saddle of the fish is often yellow, just like the anal, caudal, and dorsal fins. Lightly visible or very thin vertical stripes can be seen over the sides of the fish. Recommended Tank Size: The Double Saddled Butterfly Fish should be in a tank of about 75 gallons with a temperature of 72 - 78 degrees Fahrenheit and pH level between 8.1 - 8.4. The tank can be decorated with live rock, which will give them places to hide and can also be an addition to their diet. The Double Saddled Butterfly Fish can get by alone but oftentimes they do better with a mate or two in the tank. Food & Diet: The Double Saddled Butterfly Fish is an omnivore. The diet for this fish should be rich in meaty protein items. A good diet usually includes mysis shrimp, clams, krill, bloodworms, commercially prepared foods, and plankton.
