Scientific Name: Exochochromis anagenys, this peaceful mouthbrooder cruises the rocky areas though out the Lake preying on small mbuna. This carnivore needs a big tank because the males reach almost 18 inches in length. They will eat what they can fit in their mouth; its mouth has a unique beak shape, and is laterally compressed. This adaptation allows a strong grip on its prey, (usually mbuna) which is caught in a sideways stroke of the head. This beautiful fish performs well on Red Zebra Stampede and Rainbow Zebra foods and occasionally supplement of Krill. A tank size of 75 gallon and larger is recommended and temp of 78 to 82 degrees and an aquarium or cichlid salt at the rate of 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons is also helpful. I feed them the Red Zebra Stampede or Rainbow flakes or crumbles. I feed Grow Baby Grow when they are juveniles under 2 inches.
