CICHLID UMBRIFERUM medium

Caquetaia umbrifera, called umbee. Some still refer to this fish as a cichlasoma others Caquetaia but actually it has just been re categorized as Nandopsis. What ever you call it, it is a BIG fish! They have been known to get 2 foot in length. Like many of the large guapotes this fish will spawn at a relative small size. The video is of a pair I owned that spawned when the female was only 4 inches and the male at 7 or so inches. Note the bright yellow color of the female and the dark color of the male. They are a beautiful to have for the dedicated hobbyist. They need a big tank and good food. They are a real trophy fish in the hobby.
