Yellow Eye Kole Tang - The Kole Tang or Spotted surgeonfish or Goldring surgeonfish,Ctenochaetus strigosus, is a marine reef tang in the fish family Acanthuridae which is endemic to Oceana. It grows to 5.7 inches (14.6 cm) in the wild. Its a brown color with light blue to yellow horizontal stripes over its body which change into spots towards the face. It also has a vividly yellow area surrounding the eye, sometimes leading to it being known as the yellow-eyed tang. In the aquarium trade it can be seen under a variety of common names, including Yellow-eyed Kole Tang, Striped Bristletooth, and Bristletooth Tang.
These cichlids are tank raised indoors by a proffessional breeder. Most of the fish are first generation from wild collected parents (f1)
TANGANYIKA CICHLIDS SOLD ON THIS SITE ARE GENERALLY 1 TO 2 INCHES. ALL OF THESE FISH ARE SOLD AS UNSEXED JUVENILES. DIFFERENT SIZES WILL BE DESIGNATED IN THE SIZE CHART BELOW. GENDER CHOICE WILL BE AVAILABLE ON SELECTED MEDIUM AND LARGE FISH ONLY.
Small: 1 inch (some shell dwellers maybe less than one inch)
Regular: 1 - 1.755 inches
Medium: 2.5 - 3 inches
Large: 3.5 -6 inches
If you are stocking a new tank or a tank with cichlids under 3 inches you will be safe with small , and regular sizes. If you are stocking a tank that has existing cichlids that are over 3 inches you should only choose regular, or medium sizes.
