ANTHIAS DISPAR SMALL Mirolabrichthys dispar Common Names Redfin Anthias, Pearch Anthias, Madder Seaperch Anthias, Peach Fairy Basslet Anthias Description: Anthias Dispar can be commonly found from the coral reefs of the Indian and Pacific Ocean. They are a very active fish and like to swim among the open water. As with other fish in the Anthias group, anthias dispar are hermaphrodites. When a male fish is not detected in the aquarium, the largest female will often morph to take its place. Males tend to be bright red in color, relatively larger than females, and have an extended red dorsal fin. Females may display a yellowish-orange on the top and pale lavender to white on the underside. Recommended Tank Size: The Anthias Dispar should have a minimum aquarium of at least 75 gallons. If there are one male and eight or more females it is recommended that the tank size is more than 125 gallons. There should be no more than one male for every ten females. If your desire is to keep only one Anthias Dispar than a 25 gallon tank will be sufficient. The aquarium should have a sufficient amount of live rock as well as substantial room in the water column for their constant movement. It is also recommended that the aquarium has higher intensity lighting which is needed for a healthy reef aquarium. Diet and Food: Anthias Dispar are carnivorous fish and mainly feed upon zooplankton in their natural habitat. At times the Diapar Anthias can sometimes be reluctant to feed, but can be enticed with amphipods, copepods, rotifers, and brine shrimp as well as foods such as prepared zooplankton, vitamin-enriched brine shrimp, chopped mysis shrimp, and other frozen meaty foods for marine fish. Due to their constant activity and high metabolisms, they should be fed at least two, preferably three times a day. Level of Care: Moderate Reef Compatibility: Aquarium Compatibility, Reef and Coral Safe
