BUTTERFLY AURIGA SMALL Chaetodon auriga Common Name: Auriga Butterfly Fish, Threadfin Butterfly Fish Description: The Auriga Butterfly is proper the most popular and easy to find of all the butterfly fish. The fish's body is mostly white with a c pattern of grey lines. The anal, dorsal, and tail fins of the fish are yellow. There is a black bar that vertically crosses the eye and a black spot at the top rear of the dorsal fin. This fish gets the name Threadfin from a disticntive threadlike extension from the dorsal fin. Recommended Tank Size: The Auriga Butterfly should be placed in a 50 gallon tank with a temperature of about 72 - 78 degrees Fahrenheit and a pH level of about 8.2 - 8.4. This tank should have live rock in it to help provide the fish plenty of hiding places to suit it's shy character. Food & Diet: The Auriga Butterfly is an omnivore. The fish should primarily be fed a diet consisting of plankton frozen, freeze-dried, fresh or flake food. Also the diet should have a regular vegetable source and vitamin boosting supplements.
