Bluegrass Aquatics was started as Bluegrass Cichlids in 1995 in a basement in Louisville KY. The internet was young and the idea of ordering aquarium fish online was almost unthinkable then. Eddie Martin was one of the true pioneers of learning how to sell aquarium fish online when the rest of us traditional fish sellers thought that was impossible.
Eddie continued to grow his business over the years. First expanding into his garage and then moving his operation to Florida. Bluegrass Aquatics continued to expand through the 2000’s as Eddie cultivated more and more relationships with various fish suppliers and continued to grow to a point I honestly think Bluegrass Aquatics was the largest aquarium supplier on the internet at one point a few years ago.
Eddie intentionally started to slow Bluegrass Aquatics down a few years ago. As he was getting closer to retirement he wanted to take more time for himself.
Eddie sold Bluegrass Aquatics to David Estes in late 2018 and retired. Eddie now travels the world with his wife and enjoys life to its fullest.
A new chapter for Bluegrass Aquatics has begun. David Estes has thirty years in the aquarium industry and already runs a few successful websites. We hope to do this legendary website justice in the years to come.
