Scientific Name: Sciaenochromis fryeri is an all time favorite cichlid commonly referred to as the Hap Ahli or Electric Blue. This fish has a lake-wide distribution. The first specimens exported were captured from Maleri Island & Cape Maclear however most fryeri now come from Likoma Island & the surrounding reefs due to fishing restrictions. Some are distinguished by a beautiful white blaze that stretches from lips to dorsal fin. While others from Likoma Island, lack the white blaze but have a red anal fin. These are Mouth brooding piscovores that performs well on the Red Zebra Stampede and Rainbow Zebra foods and a supplement of Krill. Ahli is one of the standards in the Hap and Hap/peacock mixes featured on this site. A tank size of 55 gallon and larger is recommended with temp of 78 to 82 degrees and an aquarium or cichlid salt at the rate of 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons is also helpful.
