Scientific Name: Altolamprologus calvus (white) is a mildly aggressive substrate spwaner that is a small fry predator. The calvus also feeds on insect larvae and small crustaceans. Their specialized laterally compressed mouth allows them access to small narrow crevices in the rocks. There are many varieties of black calvus the one pictured here is a wild caught Chaitika. They thrive on mysis shrimp, krill, and our all purose fromula . At Cape Chaitika this color form of calvus exists- the white calvus. It is almost an inverse of the "black" as the background is lighter than the spangles. Our fry are all from wild stock. We have fed our calvus the current All Purpose Fish Food Formula in our Florida Facility for over a year. Our cichlids are noticeably more active, grow quicker, have improved color, and we have all but eliminated bloat in even the most sensitive species, including tropheus. We have fed it to new world and African cichlids, assorted livebearers, Discus, loaches, catfish, Danios, Tetras, Australian Rainbows, and virtually any fish that will eat a prepared food.
